Details:

Sunday 15th March

7:20pm: Walk to nocturnal insect survey location
7:30pm: Insect survey methodology briefing & equipment set up.
8:30pm: Insect observations, iNaturalist demonstration & practice
9:30pm: Pack up site – leaving 1 or 2 x overnight UV trap & light
9:45pm: Citizen scientists & staff support to depart site

Monday 16th March

8:00am: Meet onsite at the scenic lookout.

Welcome and safety briefing

8:15am: Sort and live count of insects.

Recording of species on data sheets.

Taking photos where necessary.

9:30am: Pack up gear.

10:30am: Depart site.

Constraints that may result in rescheduling:

-rain

-windy conditions

-cold temperatures

Prior to arrival:

Please download iNaturalist app on your device and create your own account. Please be logged in ready for your surveys.

*Participants can come along to one or both days, whatever suits them best.

Catering:

Tea/coffee/hot chocolate and light snacks provided for supper.

Accessibility:

Able bodies due to uneven ground and low light conditions.
This is a family friendly event. Children are the responsibility of their attending adult.

Essential Items:

Keep cup for cuppas
Drinking Water
A fully charged phone and or power bank
Insect repellent (natural where possible)
Warm clothes
Head lamps
